BLAH...

I had a seriously blah day today... and yesterday for that matter... come to think of it and Tuesday as well. I had this "energy" work done on me on Tuesday. I was so excited. But since then all I feel is BLAH... I was actually better before having the "work" done. Now I haven't written in three days and all I want to do is sleep.

Usually going for a walk with my dog snaps me right out of it and floods my mind with a zillion ideas, but even that didn't work.

So how about it? When you are feelign BLAH and just not full of words, what gets those words flowing again?

Time. And usually plenty of housework.

Why is it that I do some of my best thinking while vacuuming?

Funny you should mention that because I have decided to spend the whole day tomorrow cleaning, so I'll have to put your tactics to good use.

I keep telling myself to relax and breathe. Whenever I have these lulls in my writing, I always wind up in the end with a burst of energy, but I hate going through them while they are happening.

Get outside and rake.
Or, if it's too cold, I agree with the housework thing. You've got to force yourself to start, but vacuuming is awesome. (OK, I can't believe I just said that. I've flipped).

PJ, Usually the outdoor thing does the trick for me. But today it is raining and yucky outside. My walk yesterday made my legs tingle(from the cold) but not my brain. So even though, I hate vacuuming, today I am becoming the white tornado and by the end of the day, this house will sparkle.

So wish me luck. Hopefully this day of cleaning, clearing, and de-cluttering my house will do exactly the same thing for my writer's brain.

Hey Amy,
I am taking cleaning break here. So far I am feeling on the fringe of me, but not quite back all teh way yet. Tomorrow I have to bake a cake, so I will be able to put one of your cure tactics to work tomorrow.

I know simmering on a story is just as important - but I am so much happier when that timer goes off and I can let my fingers fly.

Sooo...are you out of it (or should I say back into it) yet?

Music can help pull me to another place. Very good at lifting the blahs.

Becky, I think I'm out of it, I feel like I might be back to "normal" - whatever that means -but I don't normally write on Sundays- too many family things to do. I am eager for Monday to come though and write away. I had very vivid dreams last night, so I am hoping that is a good sign.

Jason, thanks for stopping by. Funny thing - music. When I work on my screenplays, I make sound tracks to write by, capturing the spirit of the movie in my head. But when I write novels, music distracts me and instead i light a candle. Never really thought about that until your advice. I guess this happens because in a movie, music is such an important layer. A movie without music, would be boring and definitely missing something. But when I read, it must be quiet, so I guess that is why I need it to be quiet when I write...beddy intaresting...
