Daniel Radcliffe all Grown-Up and the Trickle after NaNo

Well, he might not get the same type of cheers as co-star Robert Pattinson - which is more akin to Beatles hysteria. However, Daniel Radcliffe (AKA Harry Potter) is still my favorite.

Did you get to see his interview on Inside the Actor's Studio? Here's part one (above) and part four (below). You can catch parts 2 and 3 on You Tube..

Are you a real fan of Daniel's? Well, if so, you can catch him on Broadway in Equus, a controversial play, where the young Radcliffe appears nude for a long and dramatic scene. Not the Harry Potter we've come to know and love. But I suppose they all have to grow up... the actors and the fictional characters they portray.

So... Life After NaNoWriMo...

I have been sputtering to a slow start to continue my book since NaNo. I took the first week of December off. 1) I had a stomach virus and 2) I was seriously burnt out. I think I used up all the words in my head and I needed to grow new ones. So today, I wrote, maybe 50 new words... It's amazing how a week off creates such space and distance between you and your story. I needed to re-read the last few chapters, study my outline, and do some quick research to get back into it. It really IS like exercising!

But still, I love my idea and I am still going forward, hopefully now with a bit more of a serious flow than this painful trickle. There is something to be said about a fake deadline. Self imposed deadlines don't seem to have the same affect on me as NaNo did. But I've got to make mine work the same because I do really want to finish and begin revisions.

Anyone else having a slow time after NaNo?

50 words is better than nothing! But it's a slow time of year, too!
Naked on stage!!!! Oh no!

Yes, Sheri, even slower than you! I haven't even touched my NaNo project this month. I have meant to, but I've been so busy (December + kids in school = almost no free time). I'm sure looking forward to winter break!

I feel like a perv for wanting to see Equus, but I still so do.

These days I feel like I have to push myself harder to do even half the amount of work I normally do. There's too much going on around me right now. My daughter struggling to finish college applications, the holidays coming, inauguration after that, my mother visiting, my brother ill... It's not that I have less time; it's that my ability to concentrate has diminished dramatically.

PJ - couldn't agree more and that's what I keep telling myself, but, boy, what I would do for a 4,000 words day to flow through my fingertips... I feel one coming on... soon...

Becky, I feel your pain sista!

Beth - You made me laugh OUT LOUD! Seriously, out loud. My dog titled his head to the right and looked at me funny. I want to see Equus too! I thought about going with my girl friend - who is also a die hard JK Rowling/Harry Potter fan and then images of us in the audience feeling dirty and ashamed flashed through my mind and I closed that ticket master screen right down!!!!!!!

Jeanie - An ill family member can cause anyone's life to stop. So, take care of yourself and don't add any more pressure than you're already experiencing. Oh but hey, what are you doing that you are busy for the inauguration??? I just have to know that one… … …

I always have a difficult time finding my groove after taking time off from a long writing stretch. I have to go back and re-read what I've written to get back into it. But I agree with you - it's a good idea to let a story ferment before moving on.

Amy, I didn't mean for it to ferment. And ferment it did! I just couldn't get myself to write for a while after NaNo was over. But yes, sometimes fermenting is a good thing.

Harry Potter naked? Not sure that seems right. But no doubt people will flock to see him. Thank goodness it is not the Twilight guy...they would have a stampede!

Hi Sheri,

I clicked through from my friend, Becky's site. She is actually my writing partner. Wanted to introduce myself because I am your neighbor in Somerset County and I am new to blogging!

Motherx, you make me laugh! If it were Robert Pattinson naked on Broadway, they would need to have a police barricade to protect him from the screaming masses.

Welcome Corey! Yes, I've heard Becky speak of you often. You know... Somerset County might not be so far... how far away are you to the Hunterdon County Library on Rt 12? We're looking for a few new members in my novel group...

I'm having a terrible time after nano! I just don't feel motivated at all! I blame my thesis. It's killing my creativity.

Good luck on romancing your muse!

Me too, Jill! It's the NaNo Effect!

Yes.. Nothing, not one word, for a week. Now I'm researching a new idea. :) NaNo project is with my agent. :) Good luck! :)

Keri,
Yeah I read that on your blog that you finished your NaNo novel on time! Congrats! And it's with your agent?! That's great too. Good luck with that and keep us posted!

Everyone needs a respite after such a charge that you had during NaNo. I'm glad you took the pressure off--maybe you'll be recharged now! :)

Don't sweat the deadline too much...as long as you feel good about the writing itself, then you'll find the right momentum (then again, I'm a real slacker regarding deadlines...so maybe don't listen to me! ;)).

And thank you, Sheri, for the wonderful, wonderful words you shared with me on my blog. I replied there, but I just wanted to say that you really choked me up with your lovely generosity. Your belief in my work fills my heart!! So thank you, my friend. :)

Sarah,
You are very welcome. It is easy to believe in your talent!

A respite from writing is a good thing when timed properly. I'm not so sure I timed it just right... but what's done is done, right?
